How Physical Activity Helps In Achieving Your Health Goals ? Move and Stay Fit
New research has revealed that in order to achieve optimal health, it is recommended that individuals engage in more than four hours of physical activity per day, which can include light, moderate, or vigorous exercise. Additionally, it is advised to get at least eight hours of sleep each night. Light-intensity activities can range from doing household chores to preparing meals, while moderate and vigorous exercises involve intentional movements like brisk walking or working out at the gym.
Furthermore, experts suggest that a well-rounded daily routine should consist of six hours of sitting and five hours of standing. These recommendations were determined by an international team of researchers, led by Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, who analyzed the behaviors of over 2,000 individuals throughout a 24-hour period. Their goal was to identify the ideal balance of time spent sitting, sleeping, standing, and being physically active for optimal health.
The study also highlighted the importance of considering how one activity can impact the rest of the day. For instance, while sleep is beneficial if it replaces sedentary behavior, it may be detrimental to health if it replaces exercise time. The lead researcher, Brakenridge from the Centre for Urban Transitions at Swinburne University of Technology, emphasized that these findings are applicable to able-bodied adults, but it is important for each individual to consider their own unique circumstances. Ultimately, the key is to make physical activity enjoyable and incorporate it into one's daily routine.
